Music is powerful; it brings people of different races together and evokes thought and emotion. Even two people who don’t speak each other’s language and who come from opposite poles of the globe can love the same song with equal fervor.
Musicians themselves don’t have to speak the same language to create great music. For instance, the band Rendezvous recorded songs with Andrei, a Russian saxophone player who didn’t know a single word of English; nevertheless, the band communicated with Andrei through music. The result: an EP that earned thousands of downloads over the years, sealing Rendezvous’ reputation as the electronica band to keep an ear out for.
Itai Simon and Hagai Izenberg, before becoming known as the band Rendezvous, were music students in a jazz and contemporary music school. In fact, that was where they first bumped into each other. Soon after their fateful encounter, they realized their potential as a band and got together with a handful of talented musicians to record an EP.
This EP propelled Rendezvous to underground fame. Soon, Rendezvous’ songs were played on radio stations, reaching as far as Canada.
Five years later, Rendezvous is ready to wield their powers once more; this time, the band is armed with a debut album. David Bascombe, mixer-producer for artists like Moby, The Verve, Suede, and Kylie Minogue, lent a hand by mastering the band’s album tracks.
Rendezvous continues to show the potential of music in their very first album. By throwing in different ideas that create an out-and-out salad of tunes and beats, Rendezvous is about to launch eight new tracks this year.
